Panama has some lovely beaches and islands that one can explore. Panama also houses about 950 beautiful bird species. Each and every bird is very colorful and unique. They will mesmerize you with chirping.

Parque Internacional La Amistad is one of the best hiking locations in Panama. It is certain that you will truly enjoy hiking in this location because there are various species of animals and plants that you can see. Margay and Tapirs are only a few of the animals that you can find in this beautiful location. Most of the time, hike in this area lasts for about 12 hours. You have nothing to worry though because I assure you that it is worth it.

If you are looking for a more different kind of hiking experience, the best place that you should go is the Fortuna reservoir. It is one of the hottest hiking locations in Panama because there is a volcano in the area with hot lava. You should keep in mind though that the volcano emits lava during nighttime so it is best if you go there during daytime just to ensure your safety.

The Panama Canal was constructed between 1907 and 1914 by the United States, which had gained control of the Canal Zone after Panama achieved its independence from Colombia. The process of building the Panama Canal began with the creation of Lake Gatun by damming the Chagres river. Creating Lake Gatun made it unnecessary for the canal builders to dig through the entire Isthmus, which would have required several more years and millions of dollars to accomplish. The Panama Canal has made it possible for ships to travel from the Caribbean Sea to the Pacific Ocean without having to go around South America.
